Veterinary – FAQ’s

A: Every 3 years, except if you add/ replace equipment or have major repairs completed on your equipment.

A: In New York State, only when medically necessary. This requires the use of protective gear (lead apron etc.) as well as dosimetry for those holding animals.

A: Veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians (LVT)

A: No, each person must use their own badge to accurately track exposure; this is a lifetime record, so must be accurate.

A: No, the registration certificate allows you to possess X-ray producing equipment and is issued directly from the Department of Health. The inspection is a physical inspection of your X-ray units for performance and safety as well as a review of your associated administrative paperwork.
